You must obtain NSW learner licence at the RMS before you can start learn driving.
If you are under 25 years old and don’t have any valid overseas full licence, you will be given a Learner Driver Log Book for you and your supervisor / instructor to record your driving experience. You will be required to log at least 120 hours of supervised driving if under 25 years old before you can attempt the driving test. If you are 25 or more, you will not need a Log Book.
120 hours of supervised driving, must include at least 20 hours at night (e.g. between Sunset & Sunrise).
However, 1 hour driving with a licensed instructor will count as 3 hours in your Log Book up to 10 hours of actual driving lessons (totaling 30 hours in your Log Book). Driving lessons at night count for only 1 hour of night driving. The other 2 hours are added to your day driving hours.
Your supervisor must have a full unrestricted car driving Australian licence. A Red P or Green P licence holder cannot be your supervisor.
We advise that first few lessons you should do with a licensed instructor to learn the basics right. Otherwise you can learn some bad habits from your family members/friends, which later become very hard to get rid of those bad habits costing you more driving lessons. A professional trainer will teach you the proper techniques from the beginning and give you the discipline to perform automatically the multi tasks needed to drive safely whatever the conditions of the road be like weather, traffic, emergency situations, hazards etc. When you are bit more confident on the road then in between professional lessons, you can practice with your parents/friends whatever you have learnt in the lessons if you wish so. This will enable you to learn faster gaining more experience on the roads & costing you less paid lessons.
Normally it is one hour driving lesson but, in the beginning, we recommend 2-hour lessons where you will have enough time to discuss the road rules & to put into practice what your instructor explains. This will also cut down the number of lessons needed, helping to reduce the total cost.
We assess each driver during the first lesson and give an estimate of lessons needed to pass the test or to be able to drive under family/friend’s supervision or to refresh your driving skills.
Once you are eligible to book your driving test, you will need to book a date and time with the RMS at the selected location. You can do it through internet:www.rms.nsw.gov.au/myrta/mytest/ or we can book it for you.
On the day you will need to bring with you:
Most important is keep calm on that day. We will keep supporting you till the end. As explained in “Our prices”, we give you a refresher lesson (demo test) of one hour just before taking you to the actual driving test. We will wait for you to complete the test and for your license to be issued when successful before driving you home.
Yes,it is mandatory. Heavy penalties apply for driving without a licence, with an expired, cancelled, suspended or disqualified licence or a licence of the wrong class
