I, Gary (Gurmeet) Brar, the owner operator of Gary’s Driving Academy, prior to becoming an accredited driving instructor, was a university teacher for 10 years and then a Real Estate Agent in Australia since 2001. The skills I have gained in both roles have really set the foundation for helping me run my independent driving school. The teaching aspect, which comes naturally to me, I have enjoyed as it allows me to help others and encourage them through the learning process. Then there is the strong customer service and communication element which is pivotal for being a good Real Estate Agent as you need to assist people through some of the biggest decisions in their lives. I am clear and prompt in my communication and keep in touch with my students & their parents/guardians to give feedback on regular basis which has now become a strength of mine.
I take teaching very seriously, emphasising the importance of one’s own safety as well as of others on roads. Teaching road rules & safe driving skills to my clients and consequently send safer & sensible drivers on the roads is my passion. I ensure to make the whole process of teaching driving starting from car controls to my clients a hassle free and friendly experience. As a result, this commitment to my work has really helped my business grow through referrals from my past students. Also, it is important to look past just getting your driver’s licence but more towards a lifetime of safety and awareness on our roads. As a result, my students are very satisfied & performing really well in final driving test & are very responsible drivers on the road later on.
Personally, I am happily married since 1985 and we have two sons who are university graduates working in corporate sector along with their partners. My wife works in Sydney City Trains and has been my support and sounding board throughout my career.
